Over the past several years, I’ve worked across most areas of the investigative genetic genealogy process — from early case evaluation through resolution, and many stages in between. That experience has given me a broad perspective on how cases move, where they tend to stall, and where effort is most effectively applied.
More recently, I’ve taken a closer look at where my interests, strengths, and capacity truly align. As I’ve leaned more deeply into segment analytics and the context it can provide, I’ve seen it consistently produce meaningful results. At the same time, it has become clear how underutilized this type of analysis often is, despite its ability to add clarity and direction in complex cases.
Segment-level patterns can offer context that helps teams make more informed decisions about where to focus their time and energy — guiding analytical effort rather than replacing traditional genealogical work. This approach is not about shortcuts or guarantees, but about improving signal, reducing noise, and helping teams work with greater intention.
With that in mind, I’ve made the personal decision to shift the primary focus of my IGG work from case management to segment analytics. Specializing in this area allows me to provide more focused, high-quality analytical support to teams and individuals who are looking for clearer direction within challenging cases.
If you’d like to talk about segment-based strategies, analytical context, or how this type of work might fit into your current efforts, I’m always happy to connect.
